Washi tape is a decorative tape that differs from regular tape because it isn’t very sticky. This makes it sound like it is defective but on the contrary, this is a part of its charm. Being less sticky than regular tape means that if you make a mistake, you can revise it anytime.
Due to its easy-to-use nature, there are plenty of craft projects to try with washi tape. Here’re a few of our suggestions.
Washi tape flag cupcake topper
Wrap your washi tape around a toothpick and cut out a triangle to make a flag. Use these flags on cupcakes and sandwiches to make your next picnic or baby shower that much special.
Gift wrap
To spice up your next gift giving event, wrap your gifts in brown paper then use variously coloured washi tape to jazz up your gift! Pick one patterned washi tape and use solid coloured tapes for the design to prevent it looking messy.
Plant in style
Fashion some planters with used noodle cups. Poke a few holes in the bottom of the cup to improve the irrigation and afterwards, go to town with the washi tape.
Instead of highlighter
In your planner or calendar, instead of highlighter, grab a semi-transparent patterned washi tape and use it to denote things such as vacations and such that might stretch over a period of time.
Cable management
It’s a bit of an eyesore to have your wires and cables in a jumble. Use washi tape to help you with your organisation. Wrap some washi tape around the cables and label them so you can see them easier.
Polaroid borders
Decorate your instant photos with washi tape and pin them up somewhere! Find some jazzily patterned washi tape and tape to borders of the polaroid so it wouldn’t look so plain.
Paint your walls
Use washi tape to protect the skirting of the wall you want to paint. This creates a crisp and neat border between skirting and wall, in addition to preventing the wall paint from smearing on the skirting. Additionally, the less sticky nature of washi tape ensures that you won’t spoil the skirting when you remove the tape after painting.
