Repurpose and Reuse

It is sad, but true and this applies to the majority of the population in the world. When you purchase new clothes, the old ones are always found sitting in your cupboard or hidden at the very back of your closet.

Plus, more often than not, not every item in your closet makes it to the donation pile. Your best bet is to repurpose and reuse your off-season wardrobe with these amazing Do-It-Yourself (DIY) ideas.

T-SHIRT QUILT

Some clothes hold memories that are hard to forget, especially the ones that you received from your favourite aunt, grandparents or even your childhood clothes. So what should you do with them?

DIY: If you love sewing, this is for you! Turn your old t-shirts into a quilt by cutting a large square out of each t-shirt you want and sew them together.

DISHCLOTHS AND TABLE WIPES

You should probably change the dish rags or table cloths if you can see black patches on it. It simply means that the piece of cloth has been around for way too long. Don’t worry, you do not need to rush into the store to get a new set of table wipes.

DIY: Select a few t-shirts or trousers that are still in good condition and cut them into the desired sizes you would like to be used as a table wipe, dish rag or even a floor mat. However, be sure to sterilise them under hot water especially if the cloth is going to be in contact with surfaces that involve food.

PET TOY

It’s so convenient to make them instead of going to the pet store every now and then to get a new toy for your puppy, also known as, the shredder!

DIY: It is extremely easy to make a pet toy. No sewing or crafty skills needed. All you have to do is cut the cloth into three pieces, tie a knot at the end of it and braid them together (just like braiding your hair). Once done, end it with another knot at the bottom. Ta-daaaa! It’s as simple as that!

If you have plenty of unused old, stained or worn clothes, do not throw them away! There are countless ways for you to make something out of it.
