Mid-Year Check In

Have you achieved your career resolutions for this year? If not, are you on your way to achieving your career goals? If you don’t have an answer to both these questions, no need to panic if you didn’t make any resolutions or haven’t made much progress. Doing a mid-year review ensures that you’re on track to achieving your professional goals and development.

Work engagement

How connected do you feel to your job? Feeling more connected to your job and team can affect your productivity, motivation, energy and focus. If you feel like you’re struggling with how engaged you feel at work, do speak with your manager to ensure that you’ll be able to achieve more success.

Be honest

Most important is to be completely honest with your performance. Look at your ‘wins’ (landing that big client) and ‘losses’ (going past your deadline), along with how much you’ve contributed from your manager’s perspective. If your company performs reviews, read it and then ask yourself what improvements you have made since then.

If you have an open relationship with your manager, ask them how you can improve your work and advance in your career.

Take Criticism

No matter who you are or what position you have at work, there is always room for improvement. If and when you’re being evaluated at work for your performance, listen and absorb any and all constructive criticism. It’s perfectly alright to ask questions in order to be completely clear about how you should improve yourself as well.
