When it comes to improving the way your skin looks and feels, most of us would hunt for face products such as toners, moisturisers, serum, face masks and the list goes on and on. However, many fail to understand that it is not only about the products that you apply on your skin that makes a difference because these approaches may only help your skin look better on the surface.
Keeping your skin supple gets harder as you age. However, one way to maintain a better complexion even when you hit your 40s or 50s is by eating right. There are some foods that just aren’t great if you want a clear complexion. Here are five of them that you would want to steer clear of.
- Anything deep fried. As much as they’re delicious, oily foods lead to excessive oil production within the skin and clog follicles. This often results in acne.
- Carbonated drinks and other high-sugar beverages can damage the formation of collagen that helps to keep the skin firm.
- Alcohol can wreck your skin by sucking out the moisture of your skin, contributing to dry skin and a sunken look.
- A diet high in all things sweet is not only bad if you’re watching your waistline, but consuming foods with refined sugar can also damage your skin by promoting acne, eczema and psoriasis.
- A big no to salty foods because it can make your skin feel dry and cracked. This may lead to a dull appearance.
Your skin is what you eat, so be aware of your food intake and improve your skin health from inside out.
