It’s safe to say that everyone is hoping to return to a pre-pandemic life soonest. Covid-19 has shaken the world, stripped our freedom, taken millions of lives and this highly infectious virus has affected the livelihood of many.
Through the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, the Malaysian government hopes to achieve herd immunity to protect the Malaysian community from Covid-19.
The concept of herd immunity has been proven effective in protecting us from infectious and deadly diseases such as diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis. Thanks to the development of vaccines, there is no longer the need for us to worry about these life-threatening diseases and now, we’re hoping that the same can be applied to curb Covid-19. Though, herd immunity can only be achieved if the majority (at least 80 percent) of the community is protected from the virus.
In a bid to encourage Malaysians to register themselves to receive the Covid-19 vaccination and to say ‘thank you’ to those who have done their part, local businesses have taken the initiative by rewarding those who are a part of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.
