A four-day work week sounds like something unthinkable but think about it; if Friday became a ‘bonus’ day in the week, you can use it to get a head start on next week’s work or even to tackle bigger ambitions on your back burner. All it takes is just using your time efficiently and it isn’t as difficult as it may sound.
Prioritise Wisely
Evaluate your priorities and make sure that you’re focusing on things that are important and not urgent. A 20-word brief might be labelled as ‘urgent’ but a 200-word document needed by your boss is more ‘important’ and thus, needs to be prioritised.
Schedule It
Aim for Fridays to be a bonus day which means to avoid scheduling important meetings, phone calls and events on Friday. Yes, sometimes, there may be a setback such as an emergency or your boss insists on a Friday meeting, so do allow for some flexibility. Keep checking through your calendar to see how your week is shaping up and schedule accordingly.
Tune Out
Maximise every single minute of your time at work and to do that effectively, you’ll need to minimise distractions. Find a quiet spot to work or invest in some noise-cancelling headphones when you need to focus on something.
Remember that longer hours at work doesn’t mean there are more tasks being done. Good luck!
