Fashionably Dangerous

Looking good can have a price to pay if you’re not too careful about what you wear or put on your feet. A fashion decision that may seem harmless (and sometimes even disguised as comfortable) to you, can instead, be a hazard to your health. This is why, it important that you are aware of the health risks you are getting yourself involved in when you choose your wardrobe. Here are some fashion hazards that you should know of:

Ballet flats

It is often misunderstood that ballet flats are better for your feet than wearing heels. Unfortunately, this is a myth. Ballet flats generally do not have any support for your feet. In the long run, wearing these shoes frequently could cause the arch of your feet to collapse. If you would like to wear shoes of minimal height, wear those with a structure or sole support.

Heavy handbags

Who doesn’t love handbags? They’re an amazing companion at any time of the day! Though, many are guilty of overloading their handbags with items. While this may seem convenient, doing so could terribly affect your back and shoulders. To avoid injuring your back, reduce the weight of your handbag and try alternating the side you carry your handbag on.

Tummy control

Being surrounded by skinny fashion models on television and billboards can dampen your confidence especially if you have a bulging tummy. Hence, most women turn to wearing tummy control underwear to help disguise the ‘unwanted bulge’. However, doing so can cause indigestion and bloating. Remember, not everyone has a body like the model you saw on the billboard. What’s most important is that you’re healthy. Be confident with the body you’re gifted with!
