Curls are amazing on all hair types, colour and lengths. While this may be true, there is an adverse effect to curling your hair using curling irons as it could eventually cause damage to your hair.

The good news is, there are a variety of alternative methods to achieve curls without the need to use any heat. Here are a few that you could try!

Braiding

For tight curls, make a center parting, start with the classic French braid technique and secure the end with a rubber band. If you’re going for looser curls, simply tie a ponytail and braid it.

For better results, sleep with your braids on till the next day.

Rolling within curls

If you’re not good with braids, you can get your hands on some hair rollers. All you’ll need to do is to separate your hair in sections, roll your hair up and secure the roller by twisting it. Repeat the steps until your entire head is encased in rollers. Leave the rollers on for a couple of hours.

Retro Curls

Split your hair into two sections and slip a headband around your head. Start wrapping your hair around the headband until all your hair is within the band itself. You can let your hair set while you get ready for a night out.

Gently remove the headband and unleash your curls.

It’s time to put your curling irons away and enjoy this non-heat method that’s not only less damaging but also environmentally friendly as you use less electricity.
