It’s a new year and if you’re looking for a change or just having a spontaneous moment, then colouring your hair might just be the change you’re after. However, making the decision of bleaching your hair leaves you with many concerns like ‘How many times will I have to bleach my hair to get the colour of my dream?’ or the biggest worry of all, ‘Will all my hair just fall off?!’
Hence, we decided to ditch the chemicals and try out organic hair dye from Simran Beyond Beauty in Taman Tun Dr Ismail. The treatment also comes with two natural treatments to protect your locks.
The whole process was split into three appointments and was done within three weeks. The first was a hair treatment which was done before going through the bleaching and colouring process and to complete it, was another treatment to preserve the health of your hair.
Before treatment:The first treatment was a Organic Hair Cream Bath which contained pumpkin to strengthen my locks. Having natural frizzy and wavy hair, it gets a little difficult to tame my mane. Being a strong believer of the benefits of natural ingredients instead of chemicals to revive my damaged strands, this treatment did not disappoint. It aided with the texture of my hair and the result was instantly visible!
Bleaching and colouring:Three days later, I returned for the main highlight. Having bleached just the bottom half of my hair the last time with non-organic hair dye, I did expect it to be damaged especially since I was going all out this time with my whole head of hair. But to my surprise, the result of the organic bleaching and colouring was amazing. My hair felt healthy and although using heat is a big no after bleaching, I managed to use heat tools sparingly and it was totally fine. I dyed my hair blonde but personally I thought it was more to a yellowish tone than expected.
After:After two weeks of living with my new do, I returned for the final treatment. However, the result wasn’t as fulfilling as the first treatment. The second round of Organic Hair Cream Bath did revive my blonde strands as it made the colour brighter.
For those who are in for a change, I recommend to ditch chemicals and give organic dye a chance. All in all, the process of a before and after treatments and an organic bleaching and colouring was RM800.
Writer’s tip: The hair stylist at Simran Beyond Beauty first language is Bahasa Indonesia as he is from Indonesia. However, he tries his very best to converse and adapt to our local language. Thankfully, Bahasa Malaysia is similar, so it was fine to me. However, if you aren’t too confident in your BM then the owner who speaks fluent English is ever willing to convey your message. Secondly, if the colour is more to a yellowish tone than expected, I suggest washing your hair with purple shampoo instead of the ordinary colour safe shampoos.
