BLACKMORES expands its global reach with JAKIM Halal Certification, becoming the first Australian-manufactured health brand to meet Malaysian halal standards

For nearly 50 years, BLACKMORES has been a trusted brand in Malaysia. The brand marked a major milestone by receiving its JAKIM Halal certification—becoming the first Australian-manufactured brand to achieve this recognition. At the event which was held on Wednesday, 12 February 2025, at VE Hotel & Residence, Bangsar South, Mohd Dhaliff Ghaus Mohd Anuar, Head of Halal Consultancy & Advisory at Halal Development Corporation Berhad (HDC), presented the certificate to BLACKMORES Country Manager Kumaran Chandrasergaran, with Australian High Commissioner to Malaysia, Her Excellency Danielle Heinecke, as a witness.
Growing Demand for Halal-Certified Products
The demand for Halal-certified products is rising, not just among Muslim consumers but among those who prioritise clean, ethical, and safe ingredients. With this certification, BLACKMORES is reinforcing its promise to deliver health solutions that align with consumer values—whether that’s about ensuring transparency in ingredient sourcing, maintaining stringent safety standards, or upholding ethical manufacturing practices.

For many Malaysians, the JAKIM Halal certification is more than just a label—it is a gold standard of quality and integrity. “Whenever we see the JAKIM Halal certification on a product, the hygiene factor and confidence level immediately boost,” said Mr. Kumaran Chandrasergaran. “Even I personally look at JAKIM Halal first thing.”
The certification journey took three years, requiring close collaboration between teams in Malaysia and Australia. However, Mr. Kumaran emphasised that the effort was worth it. “JAKIM never compromises on the quality of deliverables,” he said, highlighting why this certification is so powerful.

JAKIM’s Halal certification is respected worldwide, with Muslim consumers actively seeking products bearing its mark.
